about

“RedBlueYellow” is a duet for two 4.3 octave marimbas and one diatonic octave of desk bells (C-C) commissioned by Madeline Dethloff and Sam Carullo.

“RedBlueYellow” takes its name and inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s painting “Composition II in Red, Blue and Yellow.” While working on the piece, the idea of a jungle in the style of Mondrian’s painting continually came to mind – with wildlife taking the form of red, blue, yellow, and white shapes.
